The snow did not stop Portland's Lan Su Chinese Garden from celebrating Chinese New Year, which started today.

It’s now the 'Year of the Pig,' and to celebrate, the garden hosted traditions like a wishing tree, rolling gold coins, and oranges for good luck.

One group told us hardly anyone showed up at their downtown office due to weather, so they decided to come to the Lan Su Chinese Garden to check out the festivities.

“Why not be reminded of starting the Chinese New Year with peace and prosperity and joy? And we've got the beautiful snow on the rooftops here, and the lanterns, so it's pretty spectacular,” said Stephanie Murphy, who works downtown.

If you missed it on Tuesday, the garden will continue events through February 19.

This Saturday, there's also the Lunar New Year Parade in Chinatown.
