SCIO, Ore. – An 18-year-old was killed in a single-vehicle crash outside of Scio Tuesday morning, the Linn County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies responded to the crash at 11:16 a.m. on Fish Hatchery Drive near Ede Road.

The driver and only occupant of the vehicle was Carson Gary Ceboll, 18, of Lebanon. The sheriff’s office says he was driving a 2000 Honda Odyssey minivan west on Fish Hatchery Drive when he lost control and rolled the van into a tree.

Investigators say ice on the roadway was likely a factor in the crash.

They say Ceboll was wearing his seatbelt and all the airbags had deployed. He was found dead at the scene.

Linn County Sheriff Yon reminds drivers to use caution during the cold winter months. Roads can be icy, even during dry conditions.
