Police made an arrest Tuesday in the June 2024 killing of a 76-year-old man, the Gresham Police Department said.

Police allege 62-year-old Randy Saiville shot and killed William “Tom” Vaughn.

Officers found Vaughn dead while conducting a welfare check near Southeast Stark Street near 208th Avenue the night of June 17, 2024.

The police department said both men lived in the same residential community.

An autopsy of Vaughn found that he died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Police said Vaughn was a veteran and a longtime resident of Gresham.

Last Tuesday, a Multnomah County grand jury indicted Saiville on charges of first-degree murder, first-degree theft and others.

According to the indictment, Saiville was convicted of first-degree manslaughter in December 2011.

Members of the East Metro SWAT team arrested him Tuesday morning near his apartment on a warrant issued after his indictment.
