Man dies in fall while climbing Mt. St. Helens

MOUNT ST. HELENS, Wash. – A man died Thursday after falling while with a group on Mt. St. Helens.

The Skamania County Sheriff’s Office said they received a call about 2 p.m. reporting the fall near Monitor Ridge, close to the 6,700 feet level.

The group of climbers started CPR on the man as a helicopter crew flew out to the area. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Initial reports say he hit his head during the fall.

Officials are withholding the man’s name until family members have been notified of his death.
