Man found injured on Salem street; police investigating

SALEM, Ore. – A man was found seriously injured on a Salem road Wednesday morning. Police are investigating.

According to the Salem Police Department, a passerby found a man lying injured in the road near Mill Street Southeast and Ford Street Southeast at 7:15 a.m.

Officers arrived and began to treat the serious wounds on the man’s head and neck. Eventually, he was taken to Salem Health for further treatment.

After securing the scene, officers began investigating and learned the injured man had been in an argument with another man he knows before he was found injured.

The altercation occurred in a home near to where he was found.

Police say the other man involved in the argument is cooperating with detectives.

Police temporarily closed the roads leading to Richmond Elementary School while they investigated. They do not believe any students were in danger.

The investigation is ongoing.
