Man found shot and killed on high school track identified
Portland Police have identified the man shot and killed on a high school track last weekend as 30-year-old Barak Rosen.
Rosen was found dead on the track of the temporary Grant High School site on SE 91st Avenue.
Rosen's death is being investigated as a homicide and he died of multiple gunshot wounds. Police say no one has been arrested in connection with Rosen's death.
According to his family, Rosen had recently relocated to Portland to start a new job.
Rosen's family released the following statement to KATU News Monday:
"We are devastated by this tragedy. Barak was a kind and gentle man. He loved the outdoors, hiking, and mountain biking, and was a talented guitar player. Originally from California, Barak had recently relocated to Portland to start a new job. We loved Barak immensely and we are heartbroken that his life was taken far too soon. We ask that our privacy be respected as we grieve during this very difficult time. Anyone with information is asked to please call Detective Mark Slater at 503-823-9319. – Rosen Family "
Portland Police are looking for witnesses or people with surveillance video to come forward. If you have any information, call police.
Neighbors told KATU News they are concerned about what happened.
"What's the world coming to?" said John Welch, who lives near the temporary Grant High School site.
