Portland authorities have identified the man who was shot and killed by a police officer in Southeast Portland on Friday as 46-year-oldRobert Douglas Delgado.

The Oregon State Medical Examiner's office concluded that Delgado died of "a single gunshot wound." His family has been notified of his death.

By Saturday evening, a memorial had already formed at Lents Park, where Delgado was shot, with people placing flowers, balloons, and candles along a fence.

Delgado's sister, Paulette Martin described him to KATU as super funny, adding that he was always cracking jokes.

"He loved his family and friends. He would take his shirt off his back for anyone. He enjoyed painting cars and he was good at it," she said.

Others who knew Delgado and came to the park on Saturday shared that he was always scared of the police.

Earlier on Saturday, Portland Police identified the officerwho shot Delgado asOfficer Zachary Delong, who has been working for the bureau for eight years. He was placed on administrative leave following the shooting, as is standard procedure.

Neighbors who live near the park say they were stuck in their homes after the shooting.

"We were barricaded into our house by multiple layers of polices. We were treated like we were the criminals it was really, really frightening and traumatic for my kids," explained one woman who asked to not be identified. "There was no concern for the safety of the neighborhood. I really really question who we were supposed to be protected from? The only people who hurt anyone yesterday in this park were the police themselves. The protesters were not threatening the neighborhood, the protesters were the neighborhood."

According to the Portland Police Bureau, the case remains under investigation and no further details are available at this time.

Delgado's family has created this Go Fund Me page to pay for funeral arrangements for him.

Editor's Note: Portland Police initially identified the man killed as "Douglas Delgado," omitting his first name. A correction has been made.
