A 26-year-old pleaded guilty to shooting and killing a man at a house party in Southeast Portland back in 2021.
Court records show that Kevin Clay pleaded guilty to a charge of first-degree manslaughter with a firearm.
The charge stemmed from a shooting in the early morning hours of May 9, 2021, at a house party in the 8500 block of Southeast Harney Street.
According to investigators, Clay shot and killed 21-year-old Jemare Lowell Manns.
Clay was identified as a suspect. He was arrested on June 2, 2022, in Seattle on an unrelated charge before being extradited to Multnomah County that November.
He was initially charged with second-degree murder and felon in possession of a firearm, but ended up pleading guilty to the first-degree manslaughter charge, which carries a maximum jail sentence of 20 years.
Clay is scheduled to be sentenced on October 26.
