Oregon man charged with shooting neighbor's dog in the face
MOLALLA, Ore. – A golden retriever is recovering at an animal hospital after he was shot in the face by a neighbor in Molalla on Friday.
Preston Gorbett is facing a first-degree aggravated animal abuse charge, accused of shooting Rudy the Golden Retriever in the face with a .44 Magnum handgun.
Deputies said they got a call on Friday, Aug. 17 from a woman who said her dog was missing from their home along Highway 211 in Molalla, and that Gorbett (her neighbor) told her that he “shot the animal.”
No word from authorities on when the shooting took place, where they found Rudy, or why Gorbett shot the dog.
Rudy is receiving veterinary care and is expected to survive his injury.
Gorbett was taken to the Clackamas County Jail; he has since been released from custody.
