Motorcycle rider dies in crash along Hwy 26 in Sandy

SANDY, Ore. – A 24-year-old motorcycle rider died Saturday after he collided with a driver along Highway 26 in Clackamas County, Oregon State Police said.

Troopers state that 77-year-old Donald Edwards was driving his pickup east on the highway when about 3:40 p.m. he made a lefthand turn on to SE Canyon Valley Road.

According to state police, he made the turn directly in front of Nicholas Irwin, 24, of Rhododendron, who was heading west on the highway.

Irwin was unable to avoid the pickup.

First responders started medical aid at the scene, however, Irwin died of his injuries.

As of Saturday night, police have not filed charges in the crash.
