Murder charges dropped for one suspect arrested in investigation
PORTLAND, Ore. – Jessica Lynne Atkinson is no longer facing murder charges in connection with the death of a Portland man.
After an arraignment Wednesday, Atkinson is charged with abuse of a corpse in the first degree, tampering with physical evidence, hindering prosecution, unauthorized use of a vehicle and possession of a stolen vehicle.
Atkinson was taken into custody Aug. 9. Peter George Jirasek was taken into custody on the same day. He still faces a murder charge.
Daniel Cohen, 30, was reported missing April 7, 2017 by his family.
His body was found shortly after in Lane County, and a medical examiner determined he died of homicidal violence.
