SALEM, Ore. –The Willamette Humane Society is having a no-fee adoption event this weekend, letting you welcome a new family member into your heart just in time for Valentines Day.

The humane society will waive all adoption fees for dogs and cats during its “Full Hearts, Empty Kennels” event on February 11 and 12.

Shelter staff said you can't reserve a pet ahead of time, so arrive early if you have your eye on one of the adoptable dogs and cats!

Willamette Humane Society will also host two free workshops, hand out treat samples, and raffle off prizes to any pet owner who wants to stop by and support their cause.

A spokesperson said they are holding the free adoption event not only to find homes for pets in need, but to also raise awareness about adoption options for families in the Salem-Keizer community.

All adoptive families must pass the humane society’s screening and application process. You will need an ID card to complete the form.

The shelter is located on 4246 Turner Rd SE and will be open from noon to 6 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
