Off-duty Yamhill police officer intervenes in Washington County assault

HILLSBORO, Ore. – An off-duty Yamhill Police officer jumped into action Tuesday morning when he witnessed an assault in Hillsboro, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said.

The sheriff’s office said the officer saw 28-year-old Jeb Stewart assaulting a woman in the 24400 block of Southwest Tualatin Valley Highway and intervened.

Investigators say both Stewart and the victim are transients.

They say the woman only sustained minor injuries.

The officer held Stewart until deputies arrived and arrested him.
