Police: Officer shoots, kills man firing rifle from his porch in The Dalles
THE DALLES, Ore. – Police shot and killed a 77-year-old man who was allegedly firing a rifle at his neighbor's home in The Dalles on Saturday night, a department spokesperson said.
Officers were called out just before 10 p.m. on reports of gunfire in the 1900 block of East 10th Street. They arrived to find a man, later identified as James Young, 77, firing rounds from a rifle from his porch.
At some point, and officer shot Young. Other first-responders started first aid, however, Young died of his injuries.
The involved officer was put on administrative leave pending an investigation.
