Overdue hiker found dead in Mount Rainier National Park
Mount Rainier National Park officials say ground crews found a 76-year-old overdue hiker dead in the Paradise River drainage Thursday.
Officials say the man left to hike Mazama Ridge on Wednesday. He was reported missing at 8 a.m. Thursday morning.
At noon, crews began a ground search.
They found the man deceased at 4:45 p.m. Thursday in the Paradise River drainage near 4th Crossing.
Officials say the man is an experienced hiker in the area and usually carries essential gear, including a map and compass.
