Poet's Beach opens in time for Portland heat wave

PORTLAND, Ore. – Poet’s Beach is opening just in time Thursday, a day when temperatures are expected to climb above 90 degrees.

It’s the only swimming beach located on the west side of the Willamette River in Portland, just north of the Marquam Bridge.

It opened in 2017 as part of a pilot project.

It will only be open during park hours, 5 a.m. to midnight.

Thursday morning it will open later during a special ceremony at 10:30 a.m.
