Police arrest two people in connection to fatal shooting near Portland State University

PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland police officers arrested two men in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred near Portland State University on Nov. 7.

Officers arrested 19-year-old Nicholas L. Hannan and 26-year-old David M. Brown in connection to the death of 21-year-old Diego Tejeda-Manzo.

Hannan is lodged in the Multnomah County Jail Thursday on a murder charge.

Brown was arrested on Nov. 7 and lodged in the Multnomah County Jail on a charge of third-degree assault.

Police said Hannan was injured and went to a local hospital for treatment following the shooting. Police contacted him at the hospital and remained with him while he received medical treatment.

Police initially responded to the report of a shooting at 12:54 a.m. on Nov. 7 in the 900 block of Southwest Montgomery Street.

When they arrived, they found Tejeda-Manzo dead on the ground.

After a preliminary investigation, officers believe there was a disturbance prior to the shooting. Witnesses told officers they saw several people running from the location shortly after hearing gunfire.
