Police: Driver hit, kills 15-year-old on longboard in Josephine County

REDWOOD, Ore. – A driver hit and killed a teenager on a longboard in Josephine County Tuesday night, Oregon State Police said.

Troopers responded to a report of the fatal crash at 7 p.m. at the intersection of Elk Lane and Majestic Drive.

After investigating, police say a 15-year-old was on a longboard traveling downhill on Majestic Drive when he rolled onto Elk Lane.

When the boy entered Elk Lane, police say a driver in a southbound Mercedes SUV struck him.

The boy suffered fatal injuries and medical personnel said he died at the scene of the crash.

Police say 32-year-old Mallory Perez from Grants Pass was driving the SUV. She is cooperating with the investigation.

Officials closed Elk Lane for about two hours during the investigation.
