BEAVERTON, Ore. – Police say a 44-year-old motorcycle rider was the person who died Wednesday morning in a crash in Southwest Beaverton.

The crash was reported about 6:45 a.m. near the intersection of SW Murray Boulevard and Hart Road.

Initial reports say Michael Campero Jr. was riding a Yamaha motorcycle south on Murray when he was struck by a northbound driver who was making a left-hand turn in a Honda Odyssey.

Campero was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials said speed and “misuse of a motorcycle helmet” both contributed to the crash, adding that the Honda driver made a “dangerous left turn.”
