Police identify motorcyclist killed in SE Powell Boulevard crash
PORTLAND, Ore. – Police identified the motorcyclist who was killed in a crash in Southeast Portland Feb. 6 as 43-year-old Jeremy J. Sowa of Gresham.
Sowa was riding a motorcycle eastbound on Southeast Powell Boulevard when he crashed into a pickup truck that was turning left onto Southeast 141st Avenue from Southeast Powell Boulevard.
Police say Sowa was thrown from the bike, landed on the ground and was struck by a driver in a red Ford sedan that was traveling westbound on Southeast Powell Boulevard.
Witnesses say Sowa was speeding before the crash, passing vehicles and traveling into the oncoming lane of traffic.
Officers believe the driver of the red Ford, 26-year-old Rory A. Morgan, was driving while intoxicated at the time of the crash. Morgan was lodged in the Multnomah County Jail on a charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants.
