Police release names of four dead, seven injured in Hwy 30 crash west of Clatskanie

CLATSKANIE, Ore. — Police are releasing the names of the four people who died and the seven others injured in a head-on crash between a minivan and truck on Highway 30 Friday morning.

According to police, Yong Gi Kim, 45, of Gig Harbor, Washington was driving west on the highway in a Honda minivan with seven passengers.

Investigators say Kim tried to turn left onto Clifton Road and ended up in front of an oncoming Ford F-450 pickup towing an empty horse trailer.

Four of Kim’s passengers, identified as Yun Hee Lee, 45, of Gig Harbor, Soon Ja Lim, 71, of South Korea, Jung Hee Lee, 39, of South Korea and an underage boy from Gig Harbor, all died in the collision.

Yoon Kyung Lee, 42, of South Korea, a boy from South Korea and a girl from Gig Harbor were all taken by Life Flight to Portland hospitals.

Kim was taken to the hospital in a ground ambulance.

Two women, 21-year-old Stevie Smith and 25-year-old Charlie Dockins, and a 1-month-old baby from Roy, Washington were in the pickup. They were also taken by ambulance to local hospitals. They are expected to be OK.

Highway 30 was closed in both directions about 14 miles west of Clatskanie at milepost 76 for several hours for a crash investigation.
