Police respond to stabbing, conduct homicide investigation in SE Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. – Police officers responded to a report of a stabbing late Tuesday night in southeast Portland and found a man seriously injured and lying on the ground when they arrived on scene.

Police responded to the incident on Southeast 2nd Avenue and Southeast Morrison Street at 11:24 p.m.

When emergency personnel arrived, they found a man lying on the ground with a large amount of blood around his body. Medics transported the man to a hospital where he died of his injuries.

After investigating, police say it appears the victim and suspect were involved in a fight on Southeast Morrison Street east of Southeast Water Avenue.

During the fight, police say the victim was seriously injured, but managed to walk to Southeast 2nd Avenue and Southeast Morrison Street where he fell on the ground.

Bystanders saw the victim on the ground and called 911.

Officers are still searching for the suspect.

Portland Police Bureau’s Homicide Detail detectives and criminalists with the Forensic Evidence Division are investigating.

The Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office plans to perform an autopsy on the victim in the coming days to determine the cause of death.
