Portland, Astoria receive record-setting daily rainfall

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland International Airport measured record setting daily rainfall Saturday afternoon, and more rain is on the way.

According to the National Weather Service in Portland, the previous record was 1.10 inches and it was set in 1951.

As of 5:09 p.m. Saturday, the rainfall had already reached 1.11 inches.

Astoria also set a new, record daily rainfall with 1.63 inches on Saturday. That was at 4:34 a.m.

Their previous record was 1.48 in 1982.
