Portland homicide detectives investigate after body found inside car

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Police Bureau homicide detectives are conducting a suspicious death investigation after someone reported finding a body in a vehicle in a parking lot shortly after midnight.

Officers responded to the parking lot near Southeast 135th Avenue and Southeast Division Street at 12:27 a.m.

When police and medical personnel arrived on scene, they confirmed the person was dead. They say the person appears to be a man.

Based on a preliminary investigation, officers asked homicide detectives to respond to the scene to continue the investigation. The Oregon State Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.

Officers closed Southeast 135th Avenue from Southeast Mill Street to Southeast Division Street to conduct the investigation. They expect it will be closed for several hours.
