SALEM, Ore. – A Portland man had already won $1,750 playing Special Keno 8-Spot when he purchased another ticket that won him more than $118,000.

After Sam Hawley discovered he had won $1,750 playing Special Keno 8-Spot, he headed to the Oregon Lottery’s Wilsonville Payment Center, but arrived before it was open. So, while he waited, he went to the Wilsonville Fred Meyer and purchased another Keno ticket.

“I have used the same numbers for years,” Hawley said.

His trusted numbers paid off. When he turned in his $1,750 ticket, he realized while he was waiting that he had also purchased a $118,759 winning Keno 8-Spot ticket.

All eight of his number matched, bringing him $25,000 and the 8-Spot rolling jackpot was $93,759.60.
