Due to the poor air quality, Portland Parks and Rec officials have closed all outdoor pools Thursday and Friday.

"I mean it’s a little hazy out here, but it’d be nice to be able to get the kids in the pool," said Christian Molstrom, who was turned away after bringing his two sons to the pool at Grant High School Thursday afternoon. "I’m probably going to have to take them home and hose them off with the garden hose."

Indoor pools will remain open, but all synthetic sports fields are closed.

Air quality index readings reached as high as 188 Thursday morning, meaning the air quality was "unsafe" for everyone, but especially those with breathing problems.

All camps are being pulled indoors as well. Officials will alert parents of children who attend camps that do not have an indoor option.
