Portland police officers respond to report of man waving gun in WinCo parking lot

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland police officers responded a man who was reportedly waving a gun around in a WinCo Parking lot Tuesday morning.

Officers received a call about the man at 5:22 a.m. Witnesses said he was at the WinCo near Northeast 122nd Avenue and Northeast Halsey Street and was waving a gun around at passing traffic.

When police arrived, they found the man in the parking lot and determined the gun was a toy.

The man quickly dropped the gun for officers and was taken into custody. Police identified him as 33-year-old Shaun Richie.

He was lodged at the Multnomah County Jail on a charge of disorderly conduct.
