Procrastinator's Delight: Amazon Prime Now will deliver gifts in one hour
The countdown to Christmas is on, and if you haven't done your shopping, you're in luck.
Amazon’s Prime Now will deliver gifts, food, household necessities, wine and beer in just one hour to people in the Portland area.
The fulfillment center is right in the heart of Northwest Portland, and there are aisles and aisles and aisles of items ready to be shipped.
“So this is procrastinator’s delight," Carey Nickels, a Prime Now Spokesperson, said. “We have you covered."
Here's how it works:
- You become a prime member: "If you're not though, you can sign up for a 30-day free membership,” Nickels said.
- Download the Prime Now application
- Shop tens of thousands of items
“We will be making holiday miracles happen all the way up until 11:59 p.m. on Christmas Eve."
Amazon warns though, on Dec. 24, you'll need to order by 9 p.m. The delivery could take up to three hours, but it's guaranteed by the end of the night.
Dozens of employees inside the hub work their magic, racing the clock. Aisle by aisle, order by order, they start filling up the brown bags.
And the cool thing this year is you can now order Amazon Handmade gifts on Prime Now.
"It's amazing," Amanda Siska, the artist and owner of Bread and Badger, said.
Those items are made by artisans around the world, or like Amanda Siska's Bread and Badger business, made right here in Portland.
