Protesters deface downtown Portland elk statue with anti-Trump message
Thousands of people marched through downtown Portland Wednesday evening, even blocking highways and leaving behind some damage.
While the protests remained peaceful, someone spray-painted "F--- Trump" three times on the Elk sculpture near the Justice Center.
Someone from the city called Paul Watts, a graffiti removal worker, early Thursday morning to clean up the spray paint.
"It's too bad it happened," Watts said.
The elk fountain was donated by former Portland Mayor David P. Thomson in 1900.
"This poor elk status seems to be the pinnacle of getting graffiti-ed when there's protests or some type of demonstration," Watts said.
More protests are expected Thursday evening.
