Reclaiming a piece of what breast cancer takes from you

Breast cancer survivor Sharon Blakeslee is using the healing power of tattoos to feel whole again.

In the fight against cancer, many patients struggle to just feel normal again.

For women fighting breast cancer, cosmetic procedures can help them emotionally in their healing process. But sometimes the reconstruction procedures leave a big piece missing.

Local breast cancer survivor Sharon Blakeslee is finding that tattoos can help when other procedures fail.

“They just look so amazing the real, the 3D depth to them really blows me away,” Sharon said after getting her newly-reconstructed breasts tattooed with realistic-looking nipples and areolae.

Monday night at 11 on KATU News, we’ll show you how the tattoos help Sharon in her fight to feel whole again.
