PORTLAND, Ore. – If you haven’t already paid the $35 Portland arts tax, Monday is your last day to do so.

The arts tax is due on Tax Day - April 15, 2019.

The Arts Education and Access Income Tax helps pay for kindergarten-through-fifth grade art and music teachers in Portland-area schools and other arts programs sponsored by local arts organizations.

Any Portland resident who makes more than $1,000 a year is required to pay the tax. This includes anyone who moved into Portland in 2017.

Adults who earn less than $1,000 in a tax year, or who are below the federal poverty level, can claim an exemption.

The annual Arts Tax was approved by voters in 2012.

If you send the tax in late, you could face a penalty of an additional $35.

You can pay the Arts Tax online.
