Portland man bitten by shark while surfing at Ecola State Park
ECOLA STATE PARK, Ore. – A man was attacked by a shark Monday afternoon while surfing in Ecola State Park near Indian Beach.
Joseph Tanner, 29, of Portland, suffered bites to his upper thigh and lower leg.
Initial reports say Tanner was surfing in the Pacific Ocean at about 4 p.m. when he was bitten.
Emergency responders stabilized Tanner at the scene before an air ambulance took him to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center, where he works as a registered nurse.
No word from officials on his current condition.
State troopers from the Astoria Command are following the investigation.
