Overnight fire damages Portland restaurant, Reo's Ribs, owned by Snoop Dogg's uncle
A large fire damaged a northeast Portland restaurant owned by an uncle of rapper Snoop Dogg.
Portland Fire & Rescue says the blaze at Reo's Ribs was reported at 3:30 a.m. Monday, and witnesses saw people running from the scene.
Investigators believe the fire started in the outside barbecue and then spread into the building, but have yet to release a possible cause. A damage estimate was not immediately available.
Reo's Ribs is co-owned by Reo Varnado and Myra Girod. Varnado is Snoop Dogg's uncle. he posted an emotional reaction video live on Facebook the morning of the fire, noting his disappointment and sadness, but also his perseverance.
"I'm very sad this morning, but I can get over it," he began, continuing on to thank everyone for their support after hearing the news.
"People try to take away your joy, but you're not gonna take away mine," he says a few minutes in, a sentiment he repeats throughout.

The restaurant opened less than two years ago in an iconic, nearly century-old building that had been a burger joint since the 1950s.
Rose City Realtors shares the affected building, but most of the damage appeared to be isolated to the popular restaurant.
There were no reported injuries.
