Salem man sentenced to 45 months in prison for fraudulent rent, other charges

PORTLAND, Ore. – A Salem man was sentenced to 45 months in prison Wednesday for fraudulently renting a house, stealing tires and witness tampering.

Brandon Patrick Grimes, 42, of Salem, was found guilty of identity theft after he tried to rent a home he did not own to a couple. He posted a fake ad online. For this charge, a Polk County Circuit Court judge sentenced him to a total of 25 months in prison.

Grimes also pleaded guilty to five counts of identity theft and two counts of second-degree theft for two cases in which he stole tires from the Dallas Les Schwab and Walmart stores. The judge also sentenced him to 10 months concurrently in the Polk County Jail for tampering with a witness.

For these charges, a judge sentenced him to 20 additional months in prison.

Grimes will be on post-prison supervision for 24 months after his release and will be required to pay full restitution to his victims.
