Salmon shark sighted, not danger to swimmers
GEARHART, Ore. - After a series of shark sightings on the Oregon coast and a catch of a great white shark last week, several sharks have been spotted.
James Monagon said he saw several sharks dead on the beach in Gearhart.
Although he described them as baby great white sharks, Tiffany Booth from the Seaside Aquarium said they appeared to be young salmon sharks. Salmon sharks are a cousin of the great white and are similar in appearance but only smaller.
They are not a danger to swimmers.
