Search effort underway for woman last seen near Grand Island, Ore.
DAYTON, Ore. – North Oregon Regional Search and Rescue and the Yamhill County Sheriff's Office are searching for a woman who was last seen near Grand Island, Ore.
Officials say 27-year-old Meighan Cordie was last seen Saturday around 10:30 p.m. She was attending a wedding in the Grand Island area northwest of Salem.
Deputies say Cordie walked off after an argument, leaving her phone and shoes in the vehicle she was riding in.
She is the daughter of a Clackamas fire captain. Her family contacted the Yamhill County Sheriff's Office Sunday because they had not heard from her.
"Everyone's distraught," said Meighan Cordie's aunt, Tracey Cordie. "And we're just trying to hold things together. We have family far away that are praying for us and trying to give us strength."
A helicopter and more than 50 searchers combed farmland and rural roads looking for any trace of Meighan Cordie.
"She's got a little girl at home," said Tracey Cordie. "She's very strong-willed. She - she's determined. She's a fighter. I'm sure wherever she is, you know, she's surviving and we'll find her."
Cordie is 5-feet 5-inches tall and weighs 160 pounds. She was last seen wearing a floral pantsuit, which she is wearing in the photo.
Deputies and family members searched the Grand Island area into Sunday evening and did not find anything.
Anyone who sees Cordie or who knows where she is should call 911 or the Yamhill County Sheriff's Office at (503) 434-7506.
