Seaside police locate body of missing kayaker

SEASIDE, Ore. – The Seaside Police Department said they found the body of a missing kayaker at the waterline of the Pacific Ocean west of the Seaside Turnaround Tuesday night.

Police said someone found the body around 6:12 p.m.

They later identified the man as Matthew Manley, 42, of Tualatin.

Manley was reported missing Monday afternoon after he went crabbing on a kayak in the Seaside Estuary.

The U.S. Coast Guard searched for Manley overnight and into Tuesday afternoon, but they called off the search at 1 p.m.

The Seaside Police Department is still looking for the missing kayak. They believe someone could have removed it from the beach shoreline on Tuesday.
