Several schools in Washington County are on lock-out status Friday, as deputies search for a domestic violence suspect.

Deputy Jeff Talbot told KATU News deputies responded to a domestic disturbance in the 800 block of S 1st Avenue in Cornelius around 9 a.m.

Once they arrived, they found a woman suffering from serious injuries after she was allegedly assaulted by her boyfriend. He reportedly also fired a weapon before leaving, and luckily, no one was struck. The couple's 3-year-old child was home at the time and was not injured.

Deputies have searched the area for the suspect but haven't tracked him down yet.

Talbot says because of the couple's ties to the Forest Grove School District, Forest Grove High, Echo Shaw Elementary and Neil Armstrong Middle schools have been placed on lock-out status. All activities are continuing as normal inside the buildings.
