Sheriff: Man found in evacuation area, jailed on theft by deception charge

TROUTDALE, Ore. – Multnomah County Sheriff’s deputies jailed a man Tuesday night on a theft by deception charge.

Deputies arrested 23-year-old Cody Cunningham of Troutdale.

Sheriff Mike Reese said Cunningham had received firefighter gear, but was not on a firefighting crew.

Crew leaders notified deputies and they located Cunningham in an area that was evacuated.

Cunningham was also arrested on a parole violation. He was lodged at the Multnomah County Detention Center.

Cunningham is also a convicted sex offender. He was sentenced to four years in prison and 10 years probation for luring a minor in 2014.
