One person shot just outside Molalla, deputies looking for suspect
Clackamas County sheriff's deputies say one person was hospitalized after being shot Thursday at a home on rural property near Molalla.
The incident was reported around 1:30 p.m. in the 9000 block of S Schneider Road.
Sgt. Brian Jensen, spokesman for the sheriff's office, said deputies were nearby when they received the call and were on scene fairly quickly.
"Deputies got down here fairly quickly and were able to render aid to a victim who was shot and has since been Life Flighted to a local hospital. I do not know the status of him," Jensen said. "There were -- seems like there were quite a few people here at the time. Some of them have since have scattered."
Even though deputies were nearby when the shooting happened, when they arrived the only person who was left on the property was the person who had been shot.
Deputies are not sure at this time what led up to the shooting.
They say they have identified who they believe did the shooting but have not yet publicly released the suspect's name. Deputies are still looking for the suspect.
During their investigation, detectives found property of a suspicious nature, which led them to open a separate investigation.
Deputies believe the person who was shot and the suspect knew each other.
Authorities starting clearing the scene around 5 p.m.
