Siltez Neighborhood Watch helps deputies locate and arrest man unlawfully carrying firearm

SILETZ, Ore. – Deputies arrested a man in Siletz Monday night for unlawful possession of a firearm after the neighborhood watch reported he was acting suspicious and walking around town.

Residents in Siletz told the neighborhood watch about a man walking through various neighborhoods asking for specific people and a dog Monday evening.

One person said the man had a “concerning bulge” in his waist line.

Residents did not recognize the man or the people he was asking about.

A Lincoln County deputy responded around 6 p.m. and found the man in the Shasta Court neighborhood in Siletz.

The deputy arrested 23-year-old Devan LaFontaine, of Otis. He was in possession of a concealed 9mm semi-automatic handgun, which was in his waistband.

LaFontaine was lodged at the Lincoln County Jail. His bail was set at $15,000.
