Sobriety Powwow at Oregon Convention Center offers family New Year's Eve celebration
Hundreds of people in Portland are choosing to celebrate New Year's Eve without alcohol and intoxicants at the 32nd annual Sobriety Powwow at the Oregon Convention Center.
Partiers will enjoy live music, arts and crafts, and community.
Organizers started the powwow to have some entertainment for people in recovery.
“Have a celebration for the people who were newly in recovery, to learn how to celebrate with their families New Year's Eve, rather than to going out. And it was a change of life for them,” said Sande Bea Allman of the Native American Rehabilitation Association of the Northwest.
The Sobriety Powwow party goes until midnight - and it's free.
