PORTLAND, Ore. – Snow will slowly make its way to lower elevations Friday before eventually falling on the valley floor this weekend.

KATU Meteorologist Rhonda Shelby says Friday, elevations below 1,000 feet will see rain as the next weather maker approaches the Pacific Northwest. Snow showers will begin in the Cascade Foothills, Coast Range and highest elevations.

Temperatures will drop Friday night and the snow level might dip to sea level by Saturday afternoon.

Rhonda Shelby says the snow accumulation will vary by area, but right now, it’s possible that one to two inches of snow could fall on the Portland metro area by Sunday morning.

She says snow could also fall on Monday, and on Tuesday or Wednesday.

This weekend, Seattle will get hit with a major snowstorm. Snow will begin falling Friday and will continue into Saturday for the Puget Sound area.
