Suspect arrested for November assault with a crossbow

Police arrested 24-year-old Cecilia Bruinsma in connection with an assault involving a crossbow that occurred on November 5.

Officers responded to Sellwood Riverfront Park on November 5 on the report of a woman who was injured after being struck by a crossbow bolt.

When officers arrived, they learned Bruinsma was involved in a verbal dispute with the victim. During the dispute, officers believe Bruinsma fired a bolt from a handheld crossbow at the victim, before leaving the scene.

The victim was taken to a local hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

After being arrested this morning, Bruinsma was lodged at the Multnomah County Jail on a charge of Assault in the Second Degree.
