Suspect in Portland murder case from September arraigned on 28 counts

PORTLAND, Ore. – The suspect in a Portland murder case was arraigned on 28 counts Tuesday.

Officers arrested the suspect in a months-old Portland murder case on Friday while conducting a traffic stop in Eugene.

Lorenzo L. Jones, 44, was arrested on a homicide warrant out of Multnomah County.

According to police, Jones is a suspect in the murder of 27-year-old Wilbert Butler who was shot and killed at a party in Southeast Portland on Sept.17, 2017.

Eugene Police took Jones into custody on Friday during a traffic stop.

He was booked into the Mulnomah County Jail on murder and unlawful use of a weapon charges.

He was arraigned on 28 charges, including Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Murder, Attempt to Commit Murder, Attempt to Commit a Class A Felony, Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

He'll be in court in March.
