Thunderstorms sweep Western Oregon, SW Washington Sunday evening
Thunderstorms rolled to the south and west of the Cascade Range on Sunday as a low pressure system from the east mixed with the warm air in Western Oregon and Southwest Washington.
The storms were expected to slow down into the evening hours as the system continued to move to the southwest across the Portland-metro area, traveling further south along the I-5 corridor past Salem and north of Eugene.
Lightning strikes were reported as far south as Woodburn, with showers also falling in the Salem-Keizer area.
As of 8 p.m., Portland General Electric is reporting nearly 2,500 people without power across Clackamas County, 2,300 in Washington County, 2,100 in Marion County, and more than 1,800 in Multnomah County.
Some people reported strong wind gusts and dramatic temperature drops as the storm moved its way through the region. | LATEST FORECAST
