PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — Portland Police detectives are investigating two deadly shootings that happened late Monday night in north and northeast Portland.

The first shooting happened around 11:09 p.m. According to PPB, officers responded to reports of a person shot in the 8100 block of Northeast Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Officers found a man in the area with gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital where he died.

An employee who answered the phone at the nearby McDonald's confirmed the shooting happened just outside the restaurant and that they are normally open 24 hours but are closed as of 5 a.m.

Police tape and a heavy police presence were still there Tuesday morning when a KATU News crew arrived. Northeast M.L.K. Jr. Blvd. is closed between Columbia Boulevard and Northeast McClelland Street.

The second shooting happened about 20 minutes later. Officers responded to the 3400 block of North Williams Avenue around 11:28 p.m. on reports of a person shot. When officers arrived they found a man who died at the scene.
