PORTLAND, Ore. – From the restrooms to the restaurants, water service was out at the Portland International Airport on Wednesday afternoon after a construction crew broke a water main.

Service was restored at about 6 p.m.

Initial reports say a construction crew broke the water main about 2:45 p.m. in the south parking lot. The break stopped all water service at the airport.

Restaurants at PDX set up portable hand washing stations. They continued to sell any prepared food that was on-hand.

A spokesperson said they had 40 porta potties brought out to the airport. One passenger described the bathroom situation as “gross” following the outage.

The water service interruption did not impact flights.
