Wheeler joins other mayors on climate charter
Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler has joined more than 50 mayors around the world to sign the new Chicago Charter for Climate Action.
It was part of the North American Climate Summit in Chicago.
Former President Barack Obama spoke, saying the new face of American leadership on climate change comes from our cities, states, nonprofits and universities.
"Ultimately, the work is up to each of us, wherever we have some impact, wherever we have some influence. And that's why America's pledge on climate is so important," Obama said.
Cities pledge to track and reduce carbon emissions and advocate for policies that take “aggressive action.”
