Wind gusts reach more than 80 mph on Oregon Coast

PORTLAND, Ore. – After a stormy, blustery night, conditions worsened early Tuesday morning.

Around 4 a.m., the wind gusts picked up speed in Northwest Oregon and the rain came down in sheets.

At the Oregon coast, wind gust speeds blew at more than 80 mph.

At Cape Foulweather, south of Depoe Bay, wind gusts reached 88 mph around 2:30 a.m. Gusts were still higher than 80 miles per hour at 3:49 a.m.

Further north, at Cape Mears near Tillamook, gusts reached 87 mph around 1:40 a.m.

Conditions were calmer in the city, but wind and rain still

At Portsmouth Park in North Portland, the rain was causing ponding and standing water in many areas near the sidewalk.

On the Fremont Bridge, gusts were over 40 mph around 5 a.m.
